& OTC Eligiblity

There have been several updates in the last week that we want to share with you regarding Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL), Over the Counter medications and H.S.A. contributions. The Families First Coronavirus Response Act goes into effect April 1 and is set to expire December 31, 2020. Emergency Paid Sick Leave

Custom Design Benefits is expanding our FMLA services to support legislation for clients who want to outsource this requirement. A small increase in monthly PEPM will deliver a newservice for our clients regarding Emergency Paid Sick Leave (EPSL). We are ready to begin this service today (April 1st). Please contact your  FMLA Administrator if you have any questions or would like to add this service to your current FMLA contract.     

Over the Counter (OTC)

The CARES ACT permanently reinstates coverage of OTC (Over the Counter) drugs and medicines as eligible for reimbursement from FSAs, HRAs, HSAs, and Archer MSAs without need for a prescription. It further expands the definition of qualified OTC items to include menstrual care products. This change is effective for expenses incurred on or after January 1, 2020. It may take 4-6 weeks for some merchants to update their systems to accept the debit card at the point of sale; however, CDB is ready to accept manual claims immediately. We will post a list of covered items on the CDB website when made available.   

H.S.A. Contributions and Tax Filings

The Treasury Department and IRS announced March 21st the federal income tax filing due date was extended to July 15th which includes extensions of 2019 HSA contributions as well.
